The internet gambling business in the United Kingdom has doubled in five years, with in excess of a million gamblers regularly betting via the internet. According to research conducted by the Dept. of Culture, Media and Sport, United Kingdom gamblers make up about 1/3rd of the Old World’s estimated total of 3 300 000 net gamblers.

The average sum wagered by every gambler is approximated at £1,000, with the European industry now valued at £3.5bn annually.

Amidst the seventy online gambling sites in the United Kingdom, none are gaming web sites advertising card games like poker and blackjack. A better part of the globe’s 2,000 internet betting casinos are located in locations with questionable net gambling codes. Antigua and Costa Rica account for more than one thousand sites between them.

The Government in the United Kingdom is looking to introduce practices and a tax system to manage the operating of the net betting industry. With such regulatory framework in place, net wagering activities would be monitored and the business will achieve even bigger penetration in the near future.
